URGENCY AND SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS
1. Programming the MF DSC Controller to transmit a ship-to-ship Geographic/Area Call.
i) Press "Main Menu".
ii) Select "TX-Call".
iii) Select "Geographical Area/ Area".
iv) Enter North-Western co-ordinates of the Geographical Area along with the desired range
(preferably 3° on both Latitude and Longitude.
v) Select appropriate category (Urgency/Safety).
vi) State the working R/T frequency as 2182 KHz.
vii) Send.

2. Sending Urgency Message using INMARSAT- C.
i ) Prepare message in File Menu.
ii ) Select "Transmit Menu".
iii) Select priority as "Routine".
iv) Under "To" Section, Select special access two-digit code.
a) "32" is for Medical Advice.
b) "38" is for Medical Assistance.
c) "39" is for Maritime Assistance.
v ) Select CES of the country required.
vi) Send.
3. Sending Urgency Message using INMARSAT- B.
i ) Prepare message in File Menu.
ii ) Select "File Menu".
iii) Select "Send Message".
iv) Select priority as "Routine" (Default).
v ) Select CES ID (Default).
vi) Select 2 digit special access code.
a) "32" is for Medical Advice.
b) "38" is for Medical Assistance.
c) "39" is for Maritime Assistance.
vii) Send.
6. Sending Safety Message using INMARSAT- C.
i ) Prepare message in File Menu.

a) "41" is for Unreported Adverse Weather - Gale, Hurricane Winds & by OBS Ships.
b) "42" is for Navigation Hazards and Warnings (Wrecks, Iceberg, Defective Radio beacons etc).
c) "43" is for Positon Reports: Amver and Ausrep etc.
v ) Select CES of the country required.
vi) Send.
5. Making Urgency Call using FLEET - 77.
i ) Select Telephone Mode.
ii ) Select 2 digit special access code.
a) "32" is for Medical Advice.
b) "38" is for Medical Assistance.
c) "39" is for Maritime Assistance.
iii) Press "#".
iv) Select CES ID.
v ) Press "#".
vi) Select appropriate Priority for the call as "URGENT".
vii) Initiate call using "#".

iii) Select "Send Message".
iv) Select priority as "Routine" (Default).
v ) Select CES ID (Default).
